Today is YAM Tunku Tan Sri Imran's 60's birthday. Over a hundred of his family members and friends celebrated his 60th birthday party at the Palace of Golden Horses last night. I was there as a friend of the family and came with Melvin Rodrigo (Tunku Imran's brother -in-law). There were too many dignitaries to mention, but amongst them include Dato Tony Fernandez (Mr Air Asia) and Dato Ali Kadir. But it was the video tribute (created by Tunku Imran's lovely wife Che Engku Puan Sri Mahirah or Moira to friends) that took the cake. The who's who of world cricket and squash recorded their wishes to Tunku Imran. They include cricket greats Arvinda Singh, Sunil Gavaskar, Sir Gary Sobers, Malaysian world number one squash champion Nicole Davids and Malaysia's sprint legend Dr Jegathesan. AND the last celebrity to appear on the video tribute was ELTON JOHN!!!
It was a great party for a great guy who just loves sports (Tunku Imran was the national squash champion in 1973). Happy Birthday Tunku Pete - excellent knock - 60 n0t out!!
I would also like to take this opportunity to also wish two very good friends (who were also there at the party) a very Happy Birthday - Ivan Rodrigo (who is Moira's brother) who celebrated his birthday a few days back and Colin Pereira (of Olympia College) whose birthday is on Monday.
